Vacation Hair Dilemna

HEY Y’ALL!!! I am slowly getting back into my posting groove. I want to announce that I am officially DONE with my grad school classes, and I’m currently waiting for commencement on Tuesday *Does the Tootsie Roll*. To celebrate receiving my Master’s, I am going to the Dominican Republic and doing hoodrat things with my friends HAHA! No really, I’m literally going to relax, unwind, and figure out my plan to take over the world.

For the last month while I was stressing over my class assignments, I was also stressing over how I am going to do my hair for this trip. I always rock a protective style anytime I go on vacation because I don’t feel like being bothered with my hair, and it allows me to focus on having fun. However, I have NO time at all to dedicate to installing box braids, which is my desired style, and I don’t want to pay anyone to install the box braids for me. Plus, I would have to prep the Kanekalon hair by soaking it in ACV because I’m allergic to synthetic hair. I also would blow my hair out because I think would make blending my hair with the synthetic hair much better. Not to mention, it would probably take 10+ hours to install them! Sigh…

After washing my hair last week, I thought about possibly rockin’ a wash n go fro on this trip. After mentioning this thought on my social media pages, I received mixed comments, which both advocated for and against the fro. I really don’t see anything wrong with the fro though. I would probably start with a twist-out, which will become a curly fro after a couple of days. Depending on if I somehow fall in the ocean, I’d literally do to co-wash, add a moisturizer, and go. I do not intend on detangling or anything. LOL

While it may seem like I made up my mind, I really haven’t. It’s nothing for me to get the random urge to buy some hair and put in braids if I think I have time to. On the other hand, I have so much going on that I really don’t want to waste valuable last minute packing time on putting in box braids. Only time will tell what I decide to do, but I have less than a week to decide LOL.

What do you all think I should do? I will literally take your comments/suggestions seriously because I am so indecisive.

Being Impatient Forced Me To Color My Natural Hair

A couple of months ago, I did a hair lightening experiment on my natural hair with lemon juice and sunlight. This experiment was pretty much a fail, and I told myself and all of you that I would revisit the idea of naturally lightening my hair in the summertime. Well, the urge to color my hair got stronger over these last couple of months, and I buckled. I went to get my hair colored professionally. Continue reading »

Tutorial: Flat Twist & Bantu Knot Out

Hey! I know I have been absent from the blog lately, but I have been super busy with schoolwork. It’s my last semester of grad school! Woop! So much work, but it’s coming down to the wire. I gotta put my priorities first (especially since I’m paying for school LOL)! Thanks for being patient with me!

I did finally get around to posting the video of my flat twist/bantu knot out style on my YouTube channel. I received so many compliments on that style, it’s only appropriate I show you all how I achieved it. Check it out!

I have been wearing protective styles in my hair since October, and now that Spring is here, it’s time for me to start wearing my hair out in fun styles again! Unfortunately, the winter weather doesn’t want to fall back at the end of March, but I’m wearing my hair out anyway! Continue reading »
